Lower the mantelpiece. That's all. Otherwise, I think it's perfect.

I like the FP as is. I think your furniture could be changed to something more rustic to showcase the FP. I agree the mantle is high but I see that it rests on built in brick corbels so maybe less thick wood (which I don't thick would look good proportionately) or remove the string of lights that makes the top of the FP look short.

Pretty fireplace in pretty room! Scrub the soot off over the opening and on the hearth and it will look refreshed.

Hi. Thank you all for your comments. I will be removing the soot from the front of the fireplace. The lights and the furniture are gone. The picture is from a real estate listing. I love the house just not sure how to decorate. I want to use transitional furniture. I don't want to use traditional. I am looking for a sectional for this room. I found a MCM style. I will try and post pic to see if the sectional will work in the space. Thanks again for taking the time to post.
