I have a Thermador single-door bottom freezer built-in and I'm very satisfied. I have no idea if the sxs and single-door are made in the same factory..

I just looked at the Thermador website and did not see any side by sides in the current product line. Are you sure you aren't seeing fridge and freezer columns next to each other? People seem to be happy with their Thermador/Bosch units.

We have a side-by-side Thermador that we've had for 2-1/2 years. We've been very happy with it. The 42" is plenty big despite it being counter depth. I love having everything within easy reach now. Not sure if they offer the 42" sxs anymore though.

AJ Madison website shows 2 Thermador sxs fridges for sale. They are both 42" wide. Does the OP know they are 42" wide, and not the standard 36" wide?

They have side by sides. Both my sisters are happy with their Thermadors, but both have FD so can't answer about the SxS.

I would also ask the question in the appliance forum

You get what you pay for. Thermador got high marks for its consistency and accessories by Consumer Reports.

The side by side models are not on the Thermador website right now but are still available for sale at retailers (e.g. maybe a discontinued model). Maybe some price breaks can be had?
