Blackberry pruning

Hi everyone. I have several thornless blackberry bushes that are finally starting to take off (I planted them three years ago).

I have been training them to a two-wire trellis. This year they finally have a lot of good looking flowers and fruit. I have been training the canes like this:

In the last few weeks one really big cane has sprouted up and is growing straight up. It might be too thick to bend over and train onto the wires of the trellis. I haven't tried yet though because this thing has no flowers and no berries. I'm sort of thinking that I should just cut this big thing off.

So keep it? Or cut it? Or wait and cut it in the fall? This thing isn't making any fruit, but if it's doing something useful like feeding root growth, then I guess I'm OK keeping it for the time being. But if the plant is putting effort into growing this mondo cane with no fruit, then I would rather cut it off to encourage more fruit.
