My internet went down before I could add a picture to this. Here is the work in progress. The whole front and sides knee walls will be poured concrete. One section is done in this picture.

Thank you for the comments, Kitchen That Works. Interesting about the brick veneer. We originally wanted to try to duplicate the brick that is on the rest of the house, but found no bricklayers or brick in our area of Florida. Everything here is usually concrete block.

The builder is pouring the concrete with a sculpted ledge on top, so there would have to be some kind of transition at the top. The finish is stone rubbed, as you say, organic. I am not too worried about compatibility with the vinyl posts as they are very plain. We might try painting or staining them, too.

I have been researching stains a bit. Home Depot shows rustic acid stain, semi transparent, white solid color and deep base solid color, so I am a bit confused. I plan to go get color samples and see if there is more info about the applications later today. I will also research brick veneer. It will probably be the middle of next week before we are ready to get to work on it.

Has anyone used Z Brick on an outside wall?

In case anyone is interested, Z-Brick samples can be obtained directly from Z-Brick. You can check out the website at http://www.z-brick.com/. I called this morning and talked to a very knowledgable woman who is sending me three color samples. After checking all over town, no one here has Z-Brick so I was happy to learn, if I decide to use this, they can ship the brick and supplies very reasonably. They have many colors of brick and some stone veneers.

We ended up painting the wall aqua to match the house, leaving the pillars white.
