A couple years back I planted some pumpkins far too late in the season. I got pretty vines but no pumpkins, of course. Problem is, we have such a short growing season up here it's hard to get the seeds in the ground after soil temps reach 65-70F without missing the boat.

after dutifully starting my seedlings indoors in late May, a bit of a cold night annihilated all my seedlings in the garden by mid June.

So I started again. Another butternut squash, lumina white, and sugar pie via seed in peat pots, starting in late June. I transplanted the seedlings into the prepared pumpkin patch once they had two true leaves in early July. The seed packets say it'll be 90-100 days for each cultivar.

that is cutting it pretty close. What do you think?. Will I get fruit before the first frost?
