My latest finished quilt

Saw a picture of this pattern on-line somewhere, so made up my own dimensions. Just finished it, hand quilting, freehand last week. Now need a new project.

Very pretty, Joan! I like the colors a lot.

How do you hand quilt in loops? Do you use a hoop? Seems like it would be a whole lot of turning the quilt around! So far I can only hand quilt straight lines and gentle curves, though I think some hand quilters can use both hands and/or quilt both towards themselves and away from.

Yes, I did this one in a plastic rectangle snap on kind of hoop. I found it so hard to see the markings on the right side, that I marked the back and quilted from that side, so the quilting on the back actually looks better than the front, in my eye.

Nice, and hand quilted too. I envy those that can hand quilt.

I really like that pattern - I have made it a few times myself. Nice job with the quilting - I have been working on hand quilting a queen sized quilt for 16 years ... maybe it will be finished this year. NOT! Anyway - congrats on your finish!

Not sure of the name, I just googled stained glass quilt pics I think. This one was a queen. The next one, same pattern will be a King.

So you hand stitched this whole thing? :o

yup, took me about 4 months in front of the Tv.

Such a beautiful quilt. What batting did you use? I bind in front of the TV, usually a movie with lots of dialogue. It's very relaxing!

That is just beautiful. Just to clarify for this novice, when you say you did it by hand, you mean the colored pieces right? Not the stitches on the gray side right?

    Both.

Lovely quilt. I can't imagine hand piecing and quilting. It takes much more patience than I have. Very nice work.

Ok, maybe I misunderstood your question. The front side is machine sewed in strips, but the quilting that you see on the back is hand sewn.

Like Sue, I also like this pattern and have made a few. I've always thought it was called a weave quilt pattern. Some call it basket weave. I like the look of stained glass, too. Nicely done.
