Help With Bathroom Layout, Please

Hi all!

I'd really appreciate your advice on how to arrange fixtures in this small bathroom.

It will be the only bathroom on the first floor, so it will be used by our family (me, DH, and 2 DC'S ages 4 and 1) as well as company. There is also a guest room on the first floor so it will be used as the main bathroom for overnight guests maybe 2-4 weeks per year.

The family bedrooms are upstairs with 2 more full baths.

I need to fit a toilet (standard size, not elongated), single vanity or pedestal sink, and a shower (could be square, rectangle, or corner).

The footprint and placement of the window can't change.

I don't want the sink under the window.

I'd like to have the door in the lower right corner on the drawing, but it could be moved anywhere on the 100" wall if needed.

I'd also like not to look right at the toilet when the door is open.

This would be my suggestion. Door could be 2'-8". Pedestal sink optional. Standard 5' shower. That space by shower could be used as a bookcase/niche in the other room if you need it.

By the way, your top dimensions do not add up (3" off).

I would do toilet and sink on the west wall, shower and linen closet on the east wall. The door would have to shift a bit.

What emily said was my thought as well. The toilet is the best fixture for under the window. The shower should be on the RH side. Either center the door on the wall and have a full 5 or 6 foot shower, or make it 3x4 against the upper RH wall and the door will still be able to open there.

Where are you located and what is your winter climate like? It makes a difference as to whether or not plumbing (and vents) should be located in an exterior wall.

Thank you all for your advice.

I'm in the NYC area so definitely a good idea to avoid having pipes in an exterior wall.

I drew four different layouts, which I've been mulling over.

Layout 1

Not bad, but looks a little cramped when first walking in and between the vanity and shower.

Layout 2

This one doesn't work for me. Too much space around toilet, not enough space for vanity, too cramped walking between vanity and shower.

Layout 3

I think this is my favorite. All the plumbing is on interior walls. Should be good clearance to get around shower and vanity. I like that toilet is far from the door and more private for guests. Only problem is toilet might feel like it's stuck in a tunnel.

Layout 4

This one could work, but the vanity has to be smaller than in Layout 3 and might feel cramped walking between shower and vanity.

What do you all think? Thanks again for any feedback!

Michael, I still think moving the door as in Naf Naf's layout is the best. Your layouts are very boxy with harsh angles and they dont utilize all the space. Also a custom sized shower is more money. However, if you go with one of those layouts, I suggest you use a pedestal sink to soften the edges.
