Where did you get your cutting? Maybe the person you got it from knows it's variety. It's impossible to ID a fig without a photo of the ripe fig, both closed (next to a quarter or measuring stick) and open. We need to see the colors both inside and outside.

It would help us if you went to your profile and filled in the planting zone field so we would know if your climate is the problem.

The tree looks healthy. It also looks pretty small. Is it in a pot? Looks like it's in ground. Some figs need pinching to produce figs. Once they figure out how, then they will produce.

I have a big tree that I almost kicked to the curb because no figs after 6 years! When I threatened it, it is now producing. My tree is really big. Yours looks so healthy and happy maybe it doesn't feel the need to produce figs.

My tree is too close to the house, so this year when it gets dormant, it will be both top and root pruned and moved to a better location.

You won't kill your tree by pinching some growth tips. You will encourage it to fruit. When it goes dormant, prune it out so it has a better tree shape. Good luck to you!

Okay, thanks for your input and I live in eastern Pennsylvania not sure of the zone but I have to wrap it up in the winter! It was a lot taller but someone suggested that I top it to about 4 feet when it went dormant last year. I'll try pinching the new growth. Are there figs that never fruit, I hope not!!

There are lots of reasons your tree is not fruiting: it is not precocious, pruning or winter damage causes vigorous/juvenile growth, rich soil and ample rain also promote growth. Most varieties are not well suited to growing in ground in PA for those reasons.

The Mt. Etna types are most reliable for our area.
