remodeling kitchen

This kitchen is from the fifties. We took down the knotty pine cabinets, sanded and painted white with Shaker doors. We have picked out New Caledonia granite and I need help with the back splash. I love Aqua and wanted to incorporate the color in the lights and accessories. I am not crazy about subway tiles and I don't care for brown. Thank you so much for any help you can give me. The appliances are going to be stainless.

I guess it really depends on the tones found in the New Caledonia. Do they lean more taupe, grey, or brown? You could try a blend from Hakatai Tile like China Glass or Pearl Blend to subtley offset the granite but complement the cabinets; letting the aqua accessories be the spotlight. You could also consider other materials for the backsplash like v groove beadboard or even art - notice the, coincidentally, aqua frames !

- They lean towards Gray and has a lot of beautiful silver flicking.

Oh, sounds lovely. Then one of the Hakatai blends might look really nice. Would you consider a larger format take on a subway tile? Maybe in a straight stacked layout? The Expressions line by Ceramic Tiles International has affordable ceramic tile in a variety of shapes including 4" x 16" as well as several mosaics. They have 2 soft neutrals that might work - check haze or horizon.
