make doors with frosted glass inserts, and stain match... that way if the match isn't perfect then its mostly glass. ....other wise, paint the interior the wall color and add shelves.

I would get in a carpenter skilled in matching woods. It's a small job but you want that shelf to look right. Promise him/her cookies.

get an out let cover and paint it too or get cream! looks so much better! you could use a floating glass shelf in there or paint a white one the wall color..... home depo or lowes has a good selection of these that could work

I'd make it a bar. Wind holder on the shelf and glass hangers on the top.

she needs to store tv equipment in there... might not be practical
