Fig problem

last modified: 10 years ago

My fig that I planted in February 2015 set fruit a year ago after just a few months. The figs didn't mature (get bigger and ripen). I thought that having been in the ground a few months hindered them. In April and May the fig again set fruit -- many more. Again the fruit remains small (about 3/4-in. in diameter), and as it goes from green to yellow, the lower half shrivels. I am watering daily with drip and once a week a deep watering. My nursery guy recommended VF-11, which I have been spraying on the leaves once every 10 days. I live in Green Valley, AZ, 85614 -- Climate Zone 2.
