I wouldn't use a marble backsplash with that busy countertop..

The marble backsplash doesn't match the countertop in any way. Pick a subway tile that perfectly matches the granite. I think the gray color may not be warm enough but its hard to tell with the lighting in the picture.

I'd probably stick with a white subway tile, clean and timeless

The St. Cecilia can run rather "yellow" in appearance (especially if you have yellow or warm lighting). This is COMMON for St. Cecilia granite. Which means stark whites and grays are out. A cream that matches your floor tiles would be a great option. A diamond install to mimic the floor (a single colour of tile) might also be a way to keep things interesting without getting too busy with a new colour/pattern.

I have the same counters with travertine backsplash in a subway pattern ( all done by previous owners) and goes well together.

beatriceestelle what did you end up going with? I have the same type of granite and I'm having a hard time finding a good tile to go with it. Do you have any pics?

beatriceestelle I'm actually thinking about going with a gray or a light taupe color myself. I'm even possibly thinking about doing sandstone type color. I have espresso colored cabinets and dark wood floors, so I just have to figure out what would look the best. I think I definitely will go with a solid subway tile though. From what I've seen, a lot of the mosaic tiles don't blend well with the light Santa Cecilia granite.

I'd select the lightest tone in the counter top for the backsplash. Do you have any sample pieces of the granite to take out on the hunt with you? That would help you greatly. I think by going with the lightest tone in the granite you will then tie in to the floor best.

Continue with the tile you have behind the stove....why not? Adding another tile will not keep the flow that I'd think you'd want for your kitchen

Porter Edun I've picked up a sample from Home Depot but it was more of a classic or a gold venetian. I might look into ordering a sample from another source.

Naturally, looking at a computer monitor is completely different than seeing them in your kitchen.

I think the smoky taupe may better be suited as the sand beach look a bit too warm... they come in frosted or not.

The only venetian gold I find is a busy stone... I am unable to locate what you are getting a sample of it appears!

Porter Edun Thanks! I'll def take a look at these. The Home Depot that I did go to didn't offer many selections. I plan to go to Floor and Décor and another Home Depot probably this weekend.

Porter Edun I'm thinking about going with a stone backsplash. Either a roman beige stone ledger or a travertine tile.

I also looked at these two subway tiles, but decided I wanted to go a different route. One is a pure tan glass subway tile the other is a wool glass subway tile.

I think the gray is too cool of a gray... the other glass well... not my favorite :)

I do like the others you chose.... the backsplash over the stove top would be a bear with the texture if you are a huge cook or even a moderate cook. I feel you'd have to have a stainless panel made for behind the cooktop.

We actually have a professional grade stove and had one like this made for above the range. Just a thought with the rough texture of the stone and cleaning.

We had it made at a heating/cooling company who does metal work as well for ducts and so on..." Bay Heating and Cooling"... they folded the corners and so on so it looked very finished. Anybody that does sheet metal work can make one for you which they do. Even with sealing, I'd be a bit concerned only due to the rough texture as you will still need to clean on occasion. Sealing it would keep it safe, but cleaning it since it appears very rough would be a little bit of a pain :)

Porter Edun I think I'm going to move forward with just sealing it, but also cook things that might splatter on the front of the stove :)

I liked what u did I also have Santa Celia granite I was looking at a very lite glass beige

I also have a two tier island thinking of removing the upper top

By the way I have white cabinets please let me know what u think
