induction ranges vs gas ranges

I'm soon to be moving to a new home set up for an electric range. It currently has a smooth-top range. I've been cooking for 20-something years on a gas (LP) range. I plan to purchase a new range, but due to the many passionate induction users on GW, I am considering an induction range rather than adding a propane tank. I'll shed a few crocodile tears on my way to the kitchen store for new cookware just for hubs ;-)

I'm looking at these three models: Bosch Benchmark Series
HIIP054U, GE Profile PHS920SFSS, and Frigidaire Gallery Series
FGIS3065PF.

If you are familiar with them, I'd love to hear your reviews, and any caveats about the intricacies of induction.

Important to me for cleaning purposes is a stainless top on a gas range, which is limiting me to the GE Cafe line or a Bosh gas range. I'd love to hear comments on these as well.

I moved to a new place that had a smooth top electric too and I've been a big gas range fan forever - sadly leaving my beautiful 36 inch Wolf cooktop behind in my old house. Rather than run a gas line to the range I decided to upgrade the electrical and give induction a try based on all the info I learned here.

I absolutely love it so far - got it this spring. I like that it doesn't generate the heat of a gas flame and it can be adjusted very precisely and predictably with the digital setting. Mine is an Electrolux freestanding - same company as Frigidaire. I would have preferred a slide-in but I liked the features and appearance of this one over the slide-ins I considered. From a purely esthetic perspective, I prefer black appliances over stainless and though this one is stainless it has a lot of black which tied in reasonably well with my other appliances. I also liked the hob layout of this over the slide-ins I considered.

Fortunately I had the necessary cookware but I did have some old revere ware that I used sometimes if I needed an extra pan of some size. I replaced that with a lovely relatively inexpensive set of Duxtop pans from Amazon that I actually like better than my All Clad and at a small fraction of the price.

I never thought I'd be this happy with anything other than gas.

If you have not seen them, this thread and this one have discussions of the Bosch Benchmark slide-in by actual users.

The GE induction ranges have been among the most popular with users here at gardenweb., so there are lots of threads discussing them. The components of the GE Profile PHS920 are very similar to those of the freestanding version, the PHS920. The main difference is that the front control panel on the slide-in reduces the usable cooktop space by a couple of inches. Otherwise, you can check out reviews for both. The induction set-up is very similar to the
predecessor models, the PHS925 and PHB925, so reviews of those also may
be helpful. (The main difference that I can see is that the "920" models let you link the controls for the two 8" burners on the left where the "925" models did not have linking.) The "920" models have been out for three years and something now, so most of the discussions are a little older. Here's a thread in case you have not seen it. The search strings "gardenweb + GE induction range" and "gardenweb + PHS920" turned up a lot more threads here plus some from Chowhound, too.

The latest versions of the PHS/PHB920 are supposed to have the smartphone connections and controllability, but I have not seen any reports yet on how it works or does not work.

The Frigidaire induction slide-in is far and away the least expensive induction slide-in (about $1400 "in the cart" at AJ Madison, for example). However, there has been very little comment on it here from actual users. As with other Frigidaire electric-slide-in ranges, the oven vents to the front of the stove. You could research those models to find comments and opinions about that featue.
