The Right Rug Can Make A Huge Difference!

Ever since I moved into my house last year, I noticed how my sofa and the carpet that was already there matched perfectly. That's not a bad thing except since both are light, neutral colors, I knew I needed more color, especially between the two sofas flanking the fireplace. I purchased a beautiful burgundy rug last summer from a woman who creates them on a wooden loom, which helped with adding color but I could not get the rug wide enough since her looms are only so wide. Last week, while helping someone else out by looking at rugs on Houzz, I not only found the perfect rug but it was the perfect price too since it was on sale for 60% off! I love how this rug looks and the beautiful colors it brings to my living room.

Lovely, Bev. What is your idea for pillows?

After I recover from knee replacement surgery, which is happening in two weeks, I plan on finishing making the pillow covers I started before we moved last year. I have gorgeous vintage Japanese kimono fabrics that I purchased from a friend on Etsy and I am combining them with silk Dupioni to make traditional, elegant pillows. They will be made with creams, reds, and some black. They are some of the most stunning fabrics I have ever owned and they were worth the money spent on them!

Good luck with the surgery, Bev. My girlfriend is recovering, nicely, from hers. Do your PT faithfully and ice it a lot. Surgeries are not what they used to be, so much easier. Will be thinking of you.

My daughter, Navy...you know that, lived in Japan for a few years and she bought back some amazing things...including kimonos. Every house should have something Asian and something black...my two rules of decorating.

I am going to share an old story here on houzz where my daughter responded with pictures of her Boston condo and all her Japanese treasures. You will have to scroll up in the comments to find it (2012), but think you will enjoy the pictures.

Thank you Judy and OTM! Judy, I belong to a health spa and once the surgery is over and I need to do PT, I will be going over and walking the indoor track, slowly, and I will be using the swimming pool as much as possible. I have several friends on Etsy who have already gone through this and I know there will be a lot of PT to do but I'm willing to do it to get out of this daily pain!

Thanks Architectural Novice! It helps that they had the perfect size in stock! I used a tape measure to make sure I purchased the right size too.

That's too cute Judy! I promise not to trip on it by not going near it until I'm healed!

Thanks GTB! I'm sure it will because I'm going to one of the best surgeons in Dayton and he also did my aunts surgery last winter. She did so well, she was released after only 6 weeks and she is a decade older than me!

Good luck with your surgery Bev! My friend had the same last year and did very well; the rehab afterwards and therapy were so important to her quick recovery!

Thanks lynartist! I will be having the left knee done first since it's bone on bone and then I want to schedule the right knee for after the holidays and first of the year. I'm taking this year off bowling to get these knees done. I'm hoping to bowl the state tournament in Spring of 1917!
