You will do wonderfully with it. Your seedlings will surprise you. You will get some that just take off and others that will just sit there, doing not too much.

You look to have a nice collection going there.

Isn't the pot nice :) It is Tracy's. It came bare root. now I have to plant it something nice. But at the price of 10" or more pots I will put it in a fabric pot which I hate for now. I will post my pic when it blooms.

Hello Marica, thanks for your kind words. You could go even with a bigger pot but 10 inch is the minimum I would recommend. Amazon has some Bloem Bowls for really nice prices. My only concern with them is they come with poor drainage. I remedy this with a drill bit! You could even go to a 17 inch, this one would look fabulous! CLICK HERE for around $13. They have a range of colors. You don't have to spend a fortune on a pot for it to look fabulous. Just an idea, I'm sure you have some ideas of your own too. Have fun with it!

I have a geo pot in 13". I will have to make a little bit more mix. I am planting where you had it. I load a pic when it blooms if I can take a good enough pic with the cell.

I have to look up hypertufa I know info was posted on it, I used the Geo because they were cheap. I love some of the asian pots in blues anything things but terracotta or desert colors.

I have not seen any tutorials on the designing of the trees. When do you start. There are some really twisted one I have seen the are slanted.

Hope all is well. I remember you saying on another post that you liked the look of a slanted, knarly tree.

Adeniums grow straight up with little variation. To create a slanted tree all you have to do is plant the seedling at an angle. You can do this as early as three months and then slant it some more at six months. Keep doing this until you have a pronounced trunk to caudex slant. As the tree grows, the trunk will bend and the caudex will retain its slant. Once you plant the caudex straight, you'll have the slanted tree you want.

Stuart is always trying different ways to grow the trees. I always tease him about the one in a circle. I seem funny to me. I thought the slanted ones might grow from a deformation more then total manipulation. We notice that Tracy has a style to have twisted trees. These have been compared lately to be similar in the Trees others have gotten from her. They are all nice. but how did she do it?

if you do hypertufa, unless you add an additive the pots will have to sit to allow the lime from the concrete to leach out. I error on the side of caution. make 'em now. let them sit out through the winter and use in he spring. you can also mix some moss and yogurt in a blender and paint your creation with the 'sauce.'

It will grow moss if it takes ...

Deb, I might want to drill a couple of holes in the bottom. One hole may not drain so fast. Just an idea.

I'm not sure that drilling into terra cotta is do-able. I did read that it will suck a lot of moisture out of the growing medium, so hoping it works out. I have two Arabicum and one Adenium in those, so will watch them closely.
