First frost at end of October. They won't grow in October. Too cool. So you've got two months to get something out of them. I know why the nursery is getting rid of them.

You can transplant them, for sure but the question is will they fruit before the end of season, in Philly ? Some of them might. I bought a Juliet, on clearance sale, a week ago and planted it in a pot. Now it has few tomatoes and some more flowers. Considering that my tomato season is practically over by the end of October ( maybe sooner) I am not holding my breath to pick a lot of Juliet tomatoes. But what the heck, I paid 99 cents for it and I had the pot and potting soil.

So go ahead and xplant some. I would do cherry and small fruiting ones.

As others have said it will be a very close call but the weather might cooperate and you'll get lucky. Your only other option is to throw them all away. So my decision would depend on if I already had everything I needed to do it so I wouldn't need to spend any money to do it and if I had the time and energy to do it.

Only one way to find out... It should be noted that green tomatoes can be eaten, as of course can green peppers, and mature green tomatoes can be brought indoors to ripen if frost threatens.
