You might eventually get a brown but not a black. But it really isn't that simple, far from it. Color is only one of the genes in a tomato's DNA and there are several sub-sets of even the color gene. Some of those genes are dominant and some are recessive.

So to answer your question one would have to have the specific DNA of the two varieties being crossed. That's one reason why many hybrids today have multiple parent stock in their linage, not just two.

There are so many black tomatoes now, though. Little reason to breed for the trait if your goal is a black tomato. There are already more types of black tomato already bred than I have space for and time for to grow in my garden.

This is assuming that by "black" you mean the dusky purple types, like Cherokee Purple, Black Krim, Carbon, etc. If you mean black as in high-anthocyanin types (usually called "blue" tomatoes), you won't get those from breeding a green-when-ripe with red.

Yes black krim is a perfect example it came from an island right it was bred naturally, how was black krim bred?.

Black Krim is said to be an old variety. It might not have been "bred" deliberately at all. It might have just been one of those types people in its area of origin had been growing for a long time.

Obviously, at some point, it was standardized as certain traits were selected for. Who did that and when is unknown. Could have been a commercial seed company. Could just be due to the luck of the draw in terms of the genetics of the seed that was first shared outside the variety's area of origin and popularized around the world.

I might try to do a cross, just for fun in the garden under the sun. I will cross a yellow with a brown.

Crossing Tomato

Here's a site that talks about tomato breeding and many of the genes involved. As you can see, it's not a simple matter of just combining two tomatoes and getting a desired outcome.
