Sheila, can you put the plant outside anywhere? I noticed some mites inside my screen room and put the plants outside to keep them from the other orchids. It took me a week to spray them but I noticed the mites were gone. I'm assuming something outside took care of the problem

They are still staying out but I'm keeping an eye on them. Try an oil based spray. Keep them out of the sun. I use various non toxic sprays which seem to work well.

Thanks Jane. Yes, I'll put it outside, today's a good day we'll have cloud cove plus light rain today and tomorrow. I have Neem oil, I'll use that. I'm just happy to see it making another growth!

• Will the plant regain their nice green coloring or is the damage permanent?

Shelia - unfortunately the damage is permanent. On the bright side the leaves are deciduous and will drop in the fall/winter.

Mites seem to love catasetum type orchids.

Hi Darlene. It pains me to see the plant in this post Plant didn't wait for Fall, it dropped its leaves almost immediatey! There are only two short leaves remaining. The new growth is still just two very small leaves and no roots that can be seen. I've put it outdoors where it gets morning sunlight and watering it with a weak plant food solution. I still have two months of growing weather and I'm hoping it will get to complete this newer growth.
