Kid friendly durable sofa

I'm redoing my family room and looking for a good quality sofa that's not too expensive. I don't want anything where the cushions need to be fluffed or come off easily. My kids are still young and tend to think of the sofa as a playground.

My style is also fresh, clean and modern. Don't want anything bulky.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Leather would be great and easy to clean up! My kids remove all the cushions and make forts and what not with them. So this time I want to avoid that. You would think teaching the would be easier, but it's not lol.

How about something like this? My daughter has one similar in red and it is very comfortable and the cover can be washed or changed to another colour. She has a two year old who uses it as a launch pad, and a dining area and it is holding up well.

the sofa is Ektorp, and comes in several configurations. I like the sofa with sectional end. Gave up on the picture. Hope this helps.

@111ideahound do the cushions move around? I don't want something I always have to adjust.

Agree that fixed cushions on the back are a good idea - we have loose on our upstairs couch and fixed (tight back I think it is called) on our basement couch and even with my youngest now 20, they manage to smush the loose ones up. Our basement sofa is quite durable and I think kid-proof, it is a sectional from Bassett. We found Bassett to have lots of options and prices not too awful, as I recall.

We had the extorp and it wasn't kid friendly. The fabric stained easily and the cushions sagged. We have three kids and a dog and I love leather sofas. In our playroom we have a basic, super cheap, bycast one that wiped clean in a breeze.

Yes cushions come off but the frame doesn't and little kids touch the arms of a sofa all the time. We also have a dog so that didn't help.

Hmm it does say it comes off. Perhaps we had a different couch from ikea. Regardless I would still say a fabric sofa with young kids is a bad idea and stand by my comment that a leather or leather like one would be better. I can only attest to my experience as a mom of three with a dog and what works for us who have kids.

Our leather sofa in the playroom has affixed cushions and the one in the living room has cushions that actual clip onto the frame. No forts here!
