I was gifted a ton of plants, a whole minivan full! I planted a lot of it in my garden, which was pretty bare to begin with, I only had a small rosemary plant, some wildflowers, calla lilies jade and random succulents. I was given everything from thyme to fushias, even a curly willow tree and a special lilac. (I have a whole lot more that needs identifying if anyone would like to help!):)

Anyway, I noticed earlier this week I had mint rust. The mint looked fine to me when I planted it, I just transplanted it to a new pot and the put the pot in the ground. I'm not an expert at all but I am learning and I can tell when something is wrong. :/ And now I think the fushia plant has rust as well. I'll admit I wasn't as careful as I should have been trying to repot or plant everything before it all died. I'm not even sure these plants were sick when given to me, I honestly doubt they were but it sure did make me think about how to treat newcomers.

In the future, what should I do with gifted plants? I would hate to spread diseases to all of the special plants I was given. Is there a way to treat all new plants coming into my yard without harsh chemicals? Do they need to be quarantined, how long? We like to go organic or the home remedy route here, even if we arent eating the plants. Lol. I'm treating my mint and fushia with apirin water for now.
