Looks great really, except your prints are too high. Come down 3-4". And the lamp on the left is too short. You can give it some height with books. And the side tables are a bit too weeny looking...try for more weight in those.

The only comment I can make is about the lighting. In a living area, ceiling light is not the most flattering. Instead, chose a wall sconce or table lamp in each corner at chest height. Put all on dimmers for maximum flexibility.

You've done a good job on your choice of a rug. I like your wall color also - glad to see that it is not gray.

On my computer the rug does not look too bright. However, always go with your gut. If you can return it, then I would based on your comments.

I do not care for it. The reason ....it does pick up a color in your pillows but it does not pick up your sofa color. If your rug had a small amount of your sofa color it would tie it in. Since your sofa color is not repeated in the space it stands out. Each piece needs to have a relationship for cohesion and uniformity. I would look for a rug and add a pillow that has that dark charcoal gray color. Hope this helps

These are examples to show how adding charcoal gray adds more contrast, interest and ties the space together.

I think the wall color makes it look a little washed out, but if you included one of the rugs listed above it would tie it to the furniture better.

IMO the rug is just plain boring this space needs some action maybe some nice faux silk drapes in a blue fron the rug not matching the sofa or even drapes that match the wall colorand I agree the end tables are too small and it looks like you could not reach the coffee table from the sofa maybe a glass coffee table to show off the rug.

I have to agree with the last few commenters. You need some color, something to add some interest ....the rug is too bland - too matchy-matchy. I like the suggestion above, because it introduces some blue, etc. Good luck.

First glance, you think the room overall looks fine right, but then you wonder why it still doesn't look very good. My opinion, it's just boring and lacking any real style.

I would start by getting rid of that blue couch. If you cannot do that, then I would change out the rug to something that picked up to some small degree on that blue couch. I would put a large faux tree in that corner to hide those white wall grates. I would lower the two pictures over the couch, they're hung too high. You need a larger coffee table, that one is too small. I would get rid of that tall lamp and do two end tables with matching lamps ... the end tables you have right now are not impactful enough. Then I would get two chairs in a print that also could subtle-ey pick up the blue in that couch. Finally I would get more attractive throw pillows and decorate the top of the coffee table, again with something blue that can find a way to spread that color around enough to where it makes some sense.
