Layout Help

I posted a thread a while back without drawings, so starting a new one with.

House: 100 year old bungalow with stairs and beams in awkward places. Seriously storage and prep space challenged kitchen. Tiny worthless "eat in" space in kitchen.

Wants: efficient layout. I cook a lot, and I like everything at my fingertips when I'm doing so. I don't like cluttered counters so a place for everything. An eat in space that fits a family of four, and maybe a guest. A big range. We don't have the budget to add square footage.

ive attached the current layout and two options I've come up with. Neither is perfect. The galley style one is maybe too closed off, but the peninsula one doesn't have much room for seating. Thanks for any ideas!

Option B confuses me...are both options oriented the same way? Is the first diagram a rendering of the current layout?

Yes sorry. The first is the current layout. Option b the drawing is just facing a different way. I took the picture again

In the peninsula plan, I would move the prep sink two feet closer to the range, so that it can be used if someone is sitting at the peninsula. Or, move it three feet closer, and leave 12" of counter on the right side. Then end that run, and have the peninsula separate--that should help with seating, and no one has to eat with a post in his face. ETA, that would allow you to make the peninsula table height, and it could be made deeper, so that the desk chair could be pulled over to the end, when you have a guest. (second pic)

Also remember--if a DW is at the end of a run, you'll need a 2-3" return panel to support the countertop.
