Except for the whole 3% loss of population part, that's great. Finally someone is taking things seriously. We need about 1000 other species being protected like this...

I'm sure it's some kind of minimum security prison but I'm not so sure I want them to be a prisoner per se, with all the tax dollars going to support them while they are there. Instead, maybe they should have community service to help endangered plants and animals.

Keep them in jail. U.S. criminal penalties (IMHO) are so weak and lame. There is no real deterrent to these idiots for not committing crimes. Just look at sex offenders. We LET THEM BACK OUT after short jail time to live among society! WTF?

That's what I mean, though. I'd much rather see prison full of sex offenders than adding in plant poachers, who could be compelled to help communities and garden areas with forced volunteer work.
