Need help with 2 new adenium

Hi all,

I finally found a nursery a week ago that had some adenium. The only thing that was label was how much it was, that it's "color", and the website they originally from but that's about all I know about them. I was just happy I found them so I got 2.

I asked the girl that worked there and she said they don't fertilize the adenium and that they only water it once a month or twice a month. It's planted in cactus soil and have an 1 inch of gravel or rocks on top.

I gave them some morning sun for a few hours for the last few days and I finally fertilize and gave them a little water from the bottom.

Should I repot them and take out the gravel on top and change the soil? Should I get a different pot? Or should I just leave them alone for now until they get bigger?

They look to be in good health. I would think where you live watering every 2wks or 4 wks. would not be enough, if in full sun. You would need to see how the water travels through the pot. When you water them the water should drain very steadily out of the bottom holes. If it takes some time to drain, then the soil may be holding too much water.

It will all depend on what the soil is composed of.

Fertilizing during the growing season (now) is a good idea and they will benefit by using it. I can only tell you what I use, recommended by people on this site. It is Dyna Gro Plant Pro 9-3-6. If you can find something similar having elemental ratios of 3-1-2 (eg. 24-8-16).

If watering once a week then cut the recommended dosage in half.

I think they look good! Probably no need to repot at this time. Rick has provided you with some excellent advice.
