Placement of piano by the bay window

I love the piano placement by the bay window and would like to do the same at home. My only concern is: would the constant sunlight from the bay window damage the piano? Can anyone tell me? Thanks.

Constant exposure to light will damage the wood and affect its sound quality. Equally important is the direction in which the top opens. It should open towards a room/audience, not a wall or window, for best sound.

Piano opens the wrong way; and especially if the piano is left open, the light and heat damages the soundboard and ruins the piano and its 80,000 wooden parts.

The placement of the piano i s wrong. It should sit with the keys on the left side (opposite to where it is now.) Anyone who performs on the piano will tell you the preferred situation of a piano is with the performer's right shoulder facing the audience, so that the lid, when open, directs the sound from the piano into the audience, not into the window. Also, angle the piano so that the beautiful open lid can be enjoyed.

Okay so what if your opening to this particular room was where the far right window is......wall along that wall, fireplace opposite the now (new) wall. What kind of furniture would you place?

oh and where the end table is .....is the opening to the dining room??

Not sure if anyone plays this piano, but the opening should face the room, not the window. Also, direct sunlight will damage the piano. Installing shades and reversing the position of the piano would be better.(In my opinion). A very pretty room.

We install window film in LOTS of piano rooms. As if the fading isn't bad enough, ask any piano tuner what the heat will do to your piano. The top is down on this picture during our install but opening towards the living space is the most common arrangement we see.

Piano should be turned around 180 degrees.
