To really save money you need to go to the local tile stores in your area and find similar colors in stock.

I have been to quite a few, but haven't found what I need yet. Obviously, I need to visit more stores.

figure out the aspect that attracts you: is it the multi colored effect.....the large groutlines and rather earthy tile but in a really basic shape...is it the up to ceiling aspect? Is it the way it works with some painted cabinets? It wouldn't be a look I would replicate, but for your eagerness and tight time frame, I think if you pin down what you want to carry into your space you can find that characteristic even if you can't do it exactly. The thing I like is the average look to the tile but it's earthy, dense hand made look and the larger grout lines. I could compromise and even live with one to three colors [but there are four colors here]... with such a good solid tile and thicker grout line...maybe carry it two thirds the way up instead of to the ceiling....I do like the squares across the top.....if the squares were further down it could be more of a feature and then focus on finding the squared complementary tile to the rest of the wall....even if the field area can't be exactly what is in the picture. The reason I wouldn't do this is because of fatigue with the busy nature of it, I would fear. Perhaps a toned down version as far as colors in their contrasting value or number of colors could be found. Maybe play off your color of cabinets will help you get traction in your search. I'm really liking that row of square ones...it might be backward but I would look for those tiles first....

I love the multicolored look ( I have it in both of my bathrooms) but I have to tell you it is dated these days. It was extremely popular in the mid 2000s. Today's look is more monochromatic. You have to be very aware of why you like something.

"earthy, dense hand made look and the larger grout lines..." Yes, for me, herbflavor, that's it exactly! I won't be carrying it up to the ceiling, it will just be between uppers and lowers, and behind my range.

Practigal, not only am I drawn to the type of tile, but also to the earthy, natural tones. My cabinets are natural hickory, so I want to add some color, but still keep it natural looking. I either need a rustic tile with variation, or a few colors that mix well.

We have lived in our home since 1979, and plan to live here for the remainder of our days, so I don't have to be as concerned with dated or trendy like many who have to consider future buyers' preferences.

I do have some smaller (1.75" x 4") subway tiles arriving Friday; they have the handmade look, and are one color but appear to have texture and the variation I am after. I found them online at Home Depot... Shipping was free, and if they don't work, it will be easy to return them to the local store.

I went back to a tile shop I had previously visited, got a different sales person to help me, and viola, I found my tile! It wasn't what I thought I would go with, but once I put it next to a cabinet door and my granite, it was perfect!

Maybe a mix of Rixi in tan, cream, and . . . forget the other colors. But that might exceed budget. Also, Daltile Rittenhouse does a nice mix of colors at a good price point. Regular subway and beveled. Good luck. Can't wait to see it.
