Phew, thanks!

Just checking back in to say the Bobos weathered the winter well, are leafing out again, and look perfect! Thanks for the advice last summer.

None of that advice was from me, but I just wanted to say thanks for the update and so glad they survived for you! Hope they look splendid this summer :)

Oh, wow. lalala. I had this type of problem before too! Sorry you had this issue too last summer. I too am glad it recovered!

After seeing the pictures, I wondered... did you have to prune some stems' sections down a bit? Or did the stems leaf out everywhere, including at the ends?

God, I actually killed my shrub in 2 weeks (but my temps were in the 100s when the irrigation failure happened)! It happened years ago, in one summer. Luck of sorts... I only killed one hydrangea (QF) because it was a new shady bed at the time. If it happened now, I would have killed more hydrangeas.

Try adding some mulch if it does not have mulch now. I remember visiting near the start of Summer and it was hot while I visited the area around the Cheers Bar.

Hi luis, I did not have to prune, though I did pull off some of the dead blooms just to make it look better last summer. The green leaves that remained tended to be on the ends of the stems rather than the base. It partially leafed out again in the fall, and now every stem is back to normal--nothing died! Boston can definitely get hot (and humid) in the summer! I think we got back from vacation and started watering again just in time to save them. I'm looking forward to seeing how the blooms develop.

Will get on the mulching! This time of year is always hard for me to get enough time in the garden to do all the spring tasks. It was mulched last year (we get a fine dark mulch so it looks like dirt in the photos above) but could use refreshing.
