ixora leaves turning yellow

I am new to southwest florida. Bought a new construction home that has ixora installed in builders fill without any amendments that Im aware of. They've been in the ground a month and the leave are turning yellow. Landscapers fertilized them a week ago with some sort of granules, but I have not noticed any change in leaf color. Are they iron deficient? Do they need a foliar spray or drench? If so, which one? I have read that florida soil is too alkaline with too high a ph for ixora, so I don't understand why they would install them in this type of soil.
