Dining Area of Kitchen

I'm at a design cut de sac. We extended our kitchen 10 years ago and can't seem to complete the dining area. There is a big wall I just can't decide what to do with. I'm not a huge fan of feature walls but have considered panelling it with bleached boards although I'm not sure this will fit in with the rest of the kitchen look.
I'd love suggestions on window dressing, kitchen table shape (round, oval or long rectangle), built in shelving units (?) anything that will make this part of the kitchen looked finished.
Obviously if I won the lotto I'd be changing all the windows to big open glazing but unfortunately it's a design mistake I'll just have to live with.

I love your pink cushions in combination with your other colours. Love the curtains. I think the blinds are too weak in colour for the room; I'd suggest that you get new blinds to match the curtains.

For the big wall, I suggest a rather special console table or low cabinet in white. Use your existing pictures -- with perhaps a few more -- in a gallery format (no shelf), or replace with a large painting. Put a tall plant in the window corner to the right of the console.

Your current table is a good shape, I suspect you have it covered because it's not so great looking? You want an attractive table with no cover -- pale or dark wood -- on which you place a glass vase with flowers. I like the light pink, though, so perhaps you could put some pink glassware or porcelain on the console.

I'm not sure whether or not I'd put a rug under the table ... it would perhaps help you get the "finished" look you want.

Here's another table that could work, I think, and be a statement piece with a sense of humour.

Thanks a million for your comments, they are much appreciated. Any views on whether the wall in the attached picture could work?
Unfortunately I'm not in sunny Florida, I'm in wet and windy Dublin, Ireland :)

I would remove the cushions from the bar stools. I feel that they are taking away from the soft look. I would remove the picture ledge. I like the white console table suggested with a large canvas painting hanging over it in similar soft colours. I think you should replace the dining table, perhaps with something similar to the white console or in the same colour as the wood in the kitchen. Lastly, I would remove the window coverings if you don't need them for privacy. I love large, bare windows and it looks like you have a lovely garden. Personally, I don't like panelled walls.

wood would look ok but in no way solve your problem, which is too little occupation of the space. I think you're getting better suggestions on grounding the wall with a substantial piece of furniture (a console or a closed buffet, with bonus storage of serving ware!) and then hanging a larger piece of art above it.

I also think it's a slight disadvantage here that the chairs so closely match the cabinetry, as the dining set sort of disappears. A wood tone would go a long way, but you might be able to do something by repainting them a blue-gray, black, or generally something that would speak up a bit more loudly. (Even a mix of blues and grays could be nice!)

A chandelier with some heft could help here too, but not sure you want one...

Take the ledge off and do a collage of pictures and frames on that wall.

    A round table

    Plain white cotton sheers.

A console is a great idea with a few potted plants near those windows.

I would take down those plates, they make me nervous just looking at your stove area! :)

Hello Dublin. Murray, alas I can't work out the picture you posted. It looks like a rather vague conglomeration of white shapes. So I can't comment on that.
