For Coretech, the $4.49/sf is a VERY good price. And only a LOW END hardwood (from Lumber Liquidators, Lowe's, etc) would come in the same price range. A medium grade hardwood STARTS at $7/sf. You are comparing a HIGH END vinyl with bottom of the barrel hardwood. The two do not sit in the same category. There are people out there who have sourced and INSTALLED Coretec for $10/sf.

Your subfloor prep will eat another $1-$4/sf (depending on subfloor and materials needed to correct it) and your install should run another $2-$4/sf (depending on where you live). The price you are seeing is NORMAL for this level of vinyl plank (rigid vinyl plank with the ability to use under pad for acoustics...this is VERY rare).

These high-end vinyl products are NOT your grandma's faded sheet vinyl from the 80's. They are some serious pieces of engineering. Your price you have quoted is a good one. Now you have to find out the preparation costs (same as hardwood, laminate, etc) and installation costs (a snick more expensive than laminate but not as expensive as hardwood).
