I like the second fabric..is it available to order? I like the flowers but had a more abstract pattern in my head..

This chandelier comes in 3 different color of metals. Pic is from Houzz but also found it on my favorite lighting web store. Love your pendants. Sort of a modern farmhouse look.

Thank you wanjess, we really like that modern/industrial farmhouse look and feel. I like the style of chandelier you sent, also had a burlap drum style one we were considering. In my head I see a real traditional piece that has some bright aqua or yellow to it, but I don't have the talent to make anything and not sure where to look.

By traditional do you mean something like this? You can always spray paint something any color you want.

If you want color in the light fixture and a farmhouse feel, I would buy a large hanging lantern (no glass) and the have it spray painted the color of your choice. As far as window treatments go, I would do inexpensive bamboo blinds in both the dining area and ajacent living space and then dress them up in the dining space with curtain panels. That said, you could have the curtain rod sprayed the same color as the light fixture to repeat the pop of color and keep the fabric more neutral.

I have thought about the teal too but thought it might look a little too heavy? Here are a few to consider.

Aqua canning bottles and you can decide how many you want.French farmhouse I thought would blend nicely with your cabinet.A bit more antique looking with a touch of blue it looks like. Nice size too.This is really different and I like the rubbed aqua with what looks like long Edison bulbs. Very different look.

As for window treatments, I wonder what light control/privacy you are looking for. I think a nice reed or fiber Roman shade would work well. I'm not a big fan of drapery in a kitchen eating zone. Just too much grease and dust. I prefer the Roman shades. By the time you buy fabric, get a workroom that does good work at reasonable prices, buy rods, rings, etc., the Roman Shades are very competitive. Have a nice clean look too. What say you?

I agree with Flo. I also would opt for Roman shades. Smith + Noble does a good job. This is a horrible pic, but it's yellow white & gray stylized dandelions...

For the bookshelves, I would go to flea markets & antique shops & search for pieces that are organically or architecturally shaped with texture. For instance, I can see a large wood bowl propped up vertically on the large shelf above tv. The size needs to fill that space. Get some old leather bound books & put some on their sides & then put one of the family photos on them. Then stand up a few books. Space them out evenly, but not perfectly. Bottom shelf on left get a basket or 2 that again fills that area pretty well. Now you're creating balance. Work with the scale of the shelves. Take pics & come back.

For the hutch, perhaps blue & white enamel pitchers & delft dishes mixed in together. Don't get too crowded.

A collection that picks up colors you use in room would be great. If you have a collection of items already think if they might work. I love helping clients shop in their house. They are amazed when we re-imagine some of their items cherished or neglected!

I like the blue and yellow combo you have going in your main area and suggest you keep it going in DR. I would say your style might be traditional/rustic. Great hutch and table.

To clarify, we aren't looking for privacy or protection from light, but were thinking of adding non functioning drapery panels just for the decorative part.

I am guessing your living room is open to the kitchen. The kitchen fixtures are really unusual and nice. I would look for a chandelier which includes wood and glass for the dining area. Is there a shop in your area which makes light fixtures and accessories from reclaimed materials? If you need another chandelier for the living room, I would look for wood and glass again...casual, somewhat rustic.

Here is another direction that would work very nice.
