The wooden pilars; are they one solid piece and if so what type of wood is it? And how does it weather?

The columns are actually wrapped with 1x 10 rough sawn cedar. We use western red cedar on our projects because of its natural beauty and its ability to hold up to the weather.

    Thanks for asking !

Do you know if you had to apply a caulk along the vertical seams of the pillars? I have done the same thing at my place but there was a gap along the seam where the boards meet. If you did use a caulk, or filler can you let me know what product it was. I would like to stain my pillars and I'm worried about the caulk taking the stain poorly and standing out. Thanks

What brand stain/sealer did you use to protect the beauty of the cedar? Thanks!
