Rug size

I'm using this rug for size purposes only, it's 8 x 10. Does the size work? Sorry, it's hard to get a good picture in a small house.

Thanks!

I don't think it's too big... Can you shift it 6" or so away from the door to the right, and slide it under the sofa also about 6" + (so there is 6" + of space between rug and hearth)?

I agree with Ida. Since you have this one in place, tape off what a 7x10 or 6x9 would look like.

The other suggestions of moving the rug are good, but for me that is only if you are trying to make this particular rug work. And, that is not the case.

Here it is pulled away from the hearth...

I currently have a 5 x 8 there and it's always felt to small. I'm considering a seagrass rug and I want to get the right size. Thanks!

I like the seagrass and think the size is fine - much better than the smaller rug.

The rug in the second set of photos looks well proportioned for the room and the furniture - looks much better, IMHO, than the smaller rug in the last photo.

I think the 8x10 is perfect. Your second round of pics look great. And I love that rug too!

What if anything ever happened with that black Craigslist table? Did the seller ever get back to you? I like your new rug in your space.

The 8x10 where you now have it, is great.

Thank you for the suggestion to move the rug back, I think that makes all the difference! I was thinking the wood chair needed to be completely on the rug.

Always1step, the seller never got back to me about the table, but the listing was removed yesterday. Now I know that's what I'm looking for, so the search continues!

    Thanks for your opinions!

This may sound odd but can you leave the seagrass rug and place your other back in its original position? I have layered rugs and I love them! I think it adds so much interest.

I like that look as well!

I probably will do that for winter. Right now I'm going for a lighter look.

    Thanks!

Kitch4me, I feel bad for you about that table. I don't know why people leave ads up when the item has been sold, or don't simply reply to emails. I Googled tray coffee table and found this one on eBay with free shipping. It may not interest you, but here it is - LINK

I like the 8×10 pulled away from the fireplace. I like the color on the walls too.

I found another table on eBay, and this one could be a great buy. The size is good for a smaller room and it's 17" tall. Mastercraft Brass Faux Bamboo Hexagonal End Table With Glass Top Burnished Brass

    Measuring: 20" x 20" x 17" tall - No bids yet and it starts at $99.

Another seller has the same table for $499. HERE

I have a Mastercraft coffee table in my LR that I bought several years ago on eBay for approx. $300. 1stDibs has mine for $1200.00.

I think the 8x10 looks like a perfect size for your room ( since you moved it)

    The 5 X 7 is too small.

AKtillery, I love your style and your decorating skills. Your rooms are

lovely, bright and inviting, and the few antiques mixed in makes it unique.

I like both feminine and masculine spirits mixed in a room, and you pulled

    it off beautifully.

I think the 8x10 rug works very well in your room since you moved it a bit. And the smaller rug over the top will be a nice tough for changing season. That black table would have looked wonderful in your room! Makes me want to find another one for you!

Cliff and Joann that is not my house, I wish it were!!! I love that house. You can see more of it at fortheloveofahouse.blogspot.com

My3dogs, thank you for taking the time to search for me! I love your table! In fact, it was more of what I was looking for when I came across the black table. It was disappointing not getting it, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I'll have to make more of an effort to check CL daily.

Missymoo, I would love it if you could find me one! ;)

Akt, I thought I recognized that room, I check that blog on occasion.

    Thanks for the replies!
