Since the blooms are long past, is it okay to go ahead and trim down to just above the crown at this time? I'm ready to prepare for Fall planting in that area. Last year, with all the rain, was the first time I got powdery mildew on it. It's there again and while it isn't an eyesore, it isn't adding to the beauty of the garden at this time.
