Our back deck is in need of a major overhaul. It was built long before we purchased the house and using cheap, non-pressure treated wood. Debating between tearing down the deck and creating a new/different patio or rebuilding the deck using quality materials. It is not attached to the house (floating deck). Underneath the deck is one concrete step and the rest of the area is gravel. Budget is limited and this will be a completely DIY project. We get strong sun in afternoon/evening and eventually I'd like to add some kind of patio cover/shade. Any ideas?
