It's purely a seasonal plant or one to bring in for winter in Maine. I don't know about NYC.

I know its seasonal, but either way, its rare to buy one in NYC, other than the possibility of a Bontanical garden.

My little bougainvillea is blooming now in the house. I let my first dry out and it died. I had to look high and low to find a replacement! Which Brunswick nursery had such abundance? On a side note, a friend of mine had a 5' houseplant that had only bloomed once. She was frustrated and showed if to me. A bougainvillea! We talked about what it needed to bloom, like more sun, etc., which was a challenge for her thickly treed lot. Afterwards I thought I would just ask her if I could take it off her hands. But, the next time I saw her she said had decided after our talk to toss it. Broke my heart. I still think about what that 5' bougainvillea would have looked like rehabilitated and in bloom.

Its the only one I know of in Brunswick, a couple of miles on N1 from Cooks Corners. Good luck, BTW, it was on a visit in late Sept or early OCt...don't know if that makes a difference of the time of year that they put on sale.
