The Poang chair is not at all comfortable to me. I'd want to sit in either before deciding. Sorry.

I absolutely agree with you that furniture ought to be tested before being bought. But other young folks in the family have had Poangs. Niece finds it comfortable, so that isn't a problem. I'm trying to determine the difference between the Poang and the Pello and whether or not they can be disassembled and then reassembled.

Other than that it has more options, Poang is bigger/taller and looks more attractive, i.e, it's more substantial. You can swap out for a different cover.

In my area, poangs are readily available on CL. You could buy a used one and get a second cover.

I love that chair and have had at least one going back for almost 40 years. They are easy to take apart and reassemble.

Check the dimensions. Pello is shorter, seat ht 14-5/8 vs Poang 16-1/2. Pello is almost a child's size.

Poang is very comfortable to me, I will be getting one eventually. I don't know about the taking apart...I have never had luck taking anything Ikea apart. Once it's together, it's together, and that's that.

We have a Poang chair and ottoman that we bought for the condo we are renting this summer. We all find it very comfortable. We'll probably be taking it apart just after Labor Day (in case you want to wait for an answer to that question).

Thanks, y'all. I appreciate the collective wisdom. Niece found a chair on Craigslist for much less than the Poang or the Pello. It was in remarkably good condition. She will probably just donate it to Goodwill or give it to a friend when she moves.

Bit late but for anyone else interested, they do come apart, they are both very comfortable, Poang looks more expensive and slightly more sophisticated design. I sat in both yesterday. Friend is giving me a Pello chair and it dismantles.

Old thread...whatever. I don’t know about the Pello, but I’ve had two Poangs, and for me, they’re just great. I do not think they’re good-looking, but I don’t care because as a non-stop knitter, I’ve never had a chair that suits me better. Craigslist typically advertises lots of them, so I’d advise going that route instead of buying new. You don’t have to assemble it, and when you move, you can re-sell or give it away without regret. I’ve also seen YouTubes that teach you how to make a new cover, if that seems interesting.
