This week's blooms

Most of the blooms from this week are from the end of their third flush. Aloha, Zephirine Drouhin and Mme Isaac Pereire have had a few blooms here and there. Double Delight has been a pretty good bloomer this season.

Thank you, boncrow! I love the blooms on MIP, and I think it is a good rose. However, it did have some blackspot earlier in the season, but that has subsided with the higher temps, even with the high humidity we've had this year. Mine is in its fourth season, and I haven't done anything to it as far as pruning, it does need some shaping. I would love to have mine climbing or trained on something, but I don't. I wouldn't mind if it was a nice, shapely shrub either, if it bloomed good. As far as bloom, it has a good spring flush and sets on a few blooms during the season, but never very many at once. My ZD pretty much does the same thing.

These are all so pretty. Just saw ZD in person for the first time... actually my stepmom had planted it and didn't know what it was. After researching, it's definitely Zephy. I went up a few pegs in her estimation after that. :) (I also made sure to take a cutting for myself.)

I especially love OLOG. I just adore pics of this rose and am considering it for my Z6a Cincinnati garden next to Dark Desire. From where did you purchase yours? I still have time to plant and would love for it to get established before the winter.

Thanks, vaporvac! ZD flowers are usually a deeper pink, the ones shown are a little pale. OLoG is available from Jackson and Perkins. I received their fall catalog last week. I ordered mine from them in 2014. I believe it comes in a 2 quart. Mine didn't take take off right away, but later in the season last year it took on a growth spurt, and has been growing ever since.Totally disease resistant so far, but I hear it can be a little tender, so I'm hoping it continues to survive. It is really a great rose and so far this season there hasn't been a long gap between flushes.

Here's a picture that is closer to ZD true color.

Thanks Sara-Ann for your comments on MIP, a little bit of black spot doesn't bother me and I would be ok with a good spring flush and scattered blooms during the season. I have been wanting to grow her for a long time now, I need to find a good spot for her and go for it next spring. I also think your OLOG is gorgeous! All of your roses are lol.

Thanks again, boncrow. Give her plenty of room to grow.

All of your roses look nice and fresh. I wish my Zephy would give me more the a bloom every two weeks. I enjoy sticking my nose in it.
