Baby Pams maturing early ...

I planted the first week of June, and the mature Baby Pam pumpkins have been orange for about two weeks. That's OK--the borers got to the vines, and until we had a few healthy rains in the last couple of days, the vines look as if they were ready to be pulled. I'd already slit the damaged parts of the vines and covered with soil. Now they look as if they might recover and are still setting fruit.

The first few of the pumpkins to turn orange have faded to a peachy-melon color, which is very pretty and will match my sister's decor, but I think of Fall pumpkins as orange. Does anyone know if the pumpkins are 'blanching' in the sun? The package showed small orange pumpkins, and pics online show the same.

Should I leave them on the vine until the stems start to dry, or cut them now and harden off? If I want the bright orange color, should I put them indoors?

Thank you
