One of the happiest things in the world to find is a pup peeking out of the soil!

Savant, your sans is definitely 'Golden Hahnii', and having very narrow green margins it's one of the more picky forms of it. There are clones with wider green borders and a bit more green in the leaf interior that are easier to grow, the extra green gives them more foot processing ability so they are stronger growers.

So be very careful of your watering, especially during winter. They don't like temps under 55 F, which I think is about 13 C.

You might see another offset or two soon, these usually produce more than one pup at a time.

Russ, I do see a very faint green line at the edge of the leaf. I have never seen one but those all yellow or yellow with a fine green edge always died on me so Lets just say that it's a hybrid of Golden Hahnii. Do you ever see any?

Savant, I would suggest keeping it warmer that the low Russ suggested. I don't let any of my Golden Hahnii get below 70 degrees.

I have started using a small amount of Captan in my waterings. It should help in rot. We have been getting so much rain here.

I'm keeping my Sans. indoor all year round, temp won't fall under 21°C (69 F), but I'll be extra-careful with cold drafts this automn and winter. I'll try to find a very bright spot far from air flows.

I potted it in a cactus soil / perlite mix (about 50% perlite), and I water it carefully. Not to much water, and not near the base of the plant.

I don't want to lose this one !

It looks so dry, too dry. Gorgeous leaves! Air flow = good. Cold draft = not so much.

Stush, I think Savant's pic might be over-exposed since coloring is so light, which is why I thought it was Golden Hahnii. But looking at it again, if it's not over-exposed, it could be a Solid Gold.

Savant, I hesitate to advise you to change your watering habits, but common practice is to not water until the top inch or so of soil is dry, but when you do water, water well and thoroughly. Not a little at a time as it sounds like you're doing.

That said, if leaves of your plant don't look thin and dessicated then I'd say to stay with what you're doing and don't change watering habits. If your plant is indeed Sold Gold, it is horrendously sensitive to over-watering so your technique is probably right-on.

Russ, yes I think this one is over-exposed, the flash of my camera was on.

Tiffany, don't be alarmed by the dry aspect of the soil, my appartment is very dry, even a day after watering all my pots have this dry look on the top.

A pic under natural light, and with macro mode on. The pup seems almost all gold with slender green margins, I'll have to see bigger leaves to confirm that.

Thanks for the extra pic Savant. Your plant is a classic Golden Hahnii, it exactly matches the picture in Juan Chahinian's book 'The Sansevieria Trifasciata Varieties'. As I said, there are other clones with a wider deep-green margin that are easier to grow.

It looks very healthy so whatever you're doing, keep it up.

Stush, if you're talking about ever seeing Solid Gold, yes. I had a Hahnii Seibert some years ago that threw 2 or 3 offsets of it. They're a bear to grow and I eventually lost them to rot. They're not fun to grow, having to be so careful with water. Just one error will set the rot in motion and then it's too late. I still have some of the GH's with more green, they're much more tolerant and in my opinion they're prettier with the bright contrast between dark green and the yellow. You have some fantastic clones of Golden Hahnii with the various patterns and colors, I've never seen some of them before.

Stush's Golden Hahniis are extraordinary ! I hope I'll find such beautiful plants here in Europe, in nurseries there is absolutely nothing apart from the most common Trif. and Cylindrica cultivars.

Thank you Russ for the clarity. I have some similar to that one coming from the center growth of my 'Streakers' from Chris and always had some weird variegations from same. They are very unstable and never breed true. But love them just for that reason.

Growing tip; I purchased some 'Bonide' 50% Captan. I use just a teaspoon to gallon of water to use for my plants. It stops root rot and other fungus. Purchased cheap and free delivery to my door. I have some in a spray bottle for forage spray. Just a very little bit goes a long way. With this extremely wet season we're having, hope it stops the loss of some of my plants.

It doesn't seem he is opening elsewhere, so I think he is retiring maybe.

I'll check that out Savantfou. It would be a very big deal if Specks closed permanently, as he's been a major source for sans for Europeans. It would affect collectors around the world too, I have many rare sans from a collector in Poland who got them from Specks. However, closing for winter might be his normal routine so I'll let you know. At least you still have Brookside, and probably some other smaller nurseries that might mail order.

A little update about this pup, after 10 days it's growing and starting to show colors, I'm happy !

It look exactly like the mother plant, with a very thin green edge.
