It really depends on the look you are going for, imo. Both of our DDs have king beds and use the following - a pair of king pillows in covers in front of a pair of king pillows in cases for sleeping. Then two Euros, one square and one lumbar pillow in decorative fabrics.

I frequently see three euro shams on a king, but we only use two. And most of the time those don't even make it onto the bed. (I'm finding less is more lately.)

TY! That sounds like what I need to do! My current set-up (3 euro in front of two king-sized pillows to match sheets, in front of 3 queen pillows) is just way too...wonky & crazy. Thanks again!

I never found a headboard for my king so I use 3 euro pillows against the wall with 2 kings in front. When we move this coming year I am determined to get a headboard so may just go with King pillows and a decorative pillow or two and ditch the euros. Just time for a change.

He always called bed pillows a "government make-work project". On the bed for the day, off the bed at night, back on the bed for day, off the bed at night, with nothing accomplished.

Yes, there was many a "pillow farm" back in the 1980's! I'd just use two - it's what I did when I had a king size bed and it was plenty.

I still have a pillow farm! Our sleeping pillows are behind the king shammed pillows (is shammed a word??). Then the bolsters, then the euro shams, then decorative pillows that I made and/or bought.

I believe in drowning in pillows. DH does NOT, ha

I'm very happy with this look and it couldn't be easier. The shams and small pillow are stashed in the spaces between the wall and the nightstands on each side which takes less than a minute. It goes against the advice I was given here to have to additional shams in white for a summery look, which I agree would be pretty, but also more work and money. Expediency triumphed.
