Thats what i was thinking...let it dry out. the other end isn't as bad so i hope i can salvage something. I'm not sure when this was pollinated, i think the end of june so I'm hoping its close to opening. should I clip off and try to save it or keep it in the sun and try to dry it?

Hopefully someone will answer you on that as sadly I'm not the one! I struggle to get mine to flower...let alone set a pod! But IMHO I think it needs to be left on the plant for as long as possible to give seeds the longest time to mature so just keep it dry.

I wonder if I could cut off the bad tips and glue the ends closed if that would salvage the good part? Shouldn't be too long before it's ready to open. It's 5, maybe 6 weeks old now.

Stranger things have been tried and tested on this forum believe me!

I can only tell you what I would do here. I have no prior experience with this, but I think I would just let it be, and hope it makes it.

Whatever you do, please share and let us all gain the experience. I'm sure it will happen again to one of us!

I'm so disappointed...I marked the border with a pen this morning and it's already spread beyond that quite a bit. I'm gonna ponder it tonight and decide in the morning.

If it is definitely spreading, I don't see what you lose by trying your idea.

This morning, I went out and one of mine had split along the seam and opened.

It was obviously not ready to open as most seeds were immature.

However, I wanted to let you know that I think I saved 4 seeds that are viable, so you may have a chance to save some.

I cut the tips but I don't think its going to make it. I thought about opening it just to see how it looks closer to origination. I don't think it was more than a week or 2 from maturity. I'll probably do that when I get home. I'm going to try again.

Still no luck with my plummies but I have had a hummingbird around. Maybe he'll be more successful than I have been.

Dare I hope? 11 hours later and it isn't spreading. It looks like the cut is trying to heal. I'm posting pictures but they aren't very good. Sorry. Fingers crossed!

I left the other side of the pod on the plant. It's still firm.

Looks like this side is shot at, those seeds on the paper towel. don't look good do they? Plus they're still green and not showing the papery covering we usually see, so I dont think they're fully mature. The ones in the pod have some brown colouration, so it's not looking promising with those either. Seeds that have ripened properly have that creamy white seed coat and have similar coloured tassels. I think the rot has got to them.

If the other horn is still firm I'm hopeful for you that the rot was prevented from hopping over into that side and all will be well. Only time will tell I guess so keep an eye on it and above all, keep the pod dry. I can't think of anything else that you can do to help.

They will grow new pods next year. Sorry! The others just look so sad too. Your plant looks healthy. Can we see a pic of the whole plant.

Some of mine have opened prematurely as well. We were really wet for a week or so, and it appears to be about to happen again.

Hopefully that system about to enter the gulf won't be much of a problem for either of us jedoba, aside from the rain.

Marica, I'll post pictures later. The plant looks great, I just wished I would've brought them all inside during these past rainy days.
