You'd have to live in the tropics to see it bloom. I don't think anyone who grows this one in their home has hopes for blooms. I have grown lauterbachii, and like most eriostemmas, it does grow, and grows FAST. It, like many eriostemmas, LOVES sunlight, heat, and to remain in ONE spot only. It HATES cold, being moved, being potbound, and dark locations.

This one climbs up to 20 feet+ before hanging back down and blooming.

I let mine lose it's leaves, like it does in nature. I let it go through a drought, like it does in nature. I also added oyster shell to the potting mix. Made the plant look ugly, but it recovered and grew again. But, despite mimicking nature as best I can, I did not bring it to bloom. Did I have hopes of seeing blooms one day? Yes, but they were just that: hopes. Realistically, unless I moved to HI or Thailand or Sarawak or some other tropical place, I would not expect blooms.

I grew lauterbachii because, despite probably never getting to see it bloom, it was an attractive plant, with fuzzy lime green leaves. And it grew. And grew. And...grew.

Would I pay more than $15 for a cutting of it? No. It gets HUGE, and like I said before, it probably will not bloom in normal household conditions. So, in my humble opinion, while it is a lovely plant, it is also a space-waster. Which is why I sold my almost 14 footer early this year.
