If you leave the art. I suggest taking down all your little nic nacs from your mantel. Placing a gorgeous tall base with long stemmed and tilted cherry blossoms in color of choice and a few pretty frames of your baby! Forget another piece on wall with that art. Too much !

The built-in wall decor is dwarfing the fireplace. Since the wall art is a bit contemporary, I would remove the traditional black fireplace surround and do something equally dramatic that can stand up to the art installation.

Get rid of those huge frames that require something in them. Then put art over the fireplace. The frames throw off the whole room. They were a bad idea and they need to go.

Love what deco showed with the extended black fireplace. That will give your room a focal point

Try some art glass bowls or something similar mounted to the wall.

I really like the frame feature. It's unique and quite interesting!! For above the fireplace, something round to break up all of the rectangles would be my choice. I know many pros do not like large clocks but this interesting clock would look great.

A tall base with flowers is a really nice idea. My concern is that it requires "regular maintenance" and topping up with fresh flowers otherwise fake flowers look a bit stale. What alternative arrangements could there be?

The TV is opposite the sofa and there is an empty wall opposite the fireplace so nothing spectacular will be reflected in any mirror placed above the fireplace.

I like your art and I think everything working well, just need some light sculpture or light glass plates. I decided to go with mix metal sculpture myself.

You could hang up a bunch of small family photos.

Have you considered a trophy mount like a moose?

I wouldn't hang anything - it will feel too lined up, but you could add a tall/narrow modern sculpture on the mantle.

Need pictures of other walls. Can the art go across from the fireplace. They overpower that wall. As is put nothing above the fireplace. And remove the stuff below art.

I'd do a large round mirror above your fireplace, layer other smaller contemporary art pieces in front of it to create depth.
