Who's paying? He doesn't get paid until it's done to spec. More than 3 switches on a plate gets to be confusing though, so bear that in mind. You may want to sort through what you want together, and what you want in a different box. I prefer one over the other, vertically, rather than side by side. Especially reaching for it in the dark.

The issues with "the trades" anywhere south of the Rio Grande are endless. To them, a wire is a wire, it may start out at the panel as yellow and when it reaches the switch it has been spliced three times in three different colors. Seriously, it's your house and you must insist that you get what you want...or get a new electrician.
