Yes, that could very well be, Walt. Adeniums respond this way to virtually everything ... pests, overwatering, underwatering, under feeding, over feeding, cooler temperatures => leaf drop => dormancy. They also do remarkable jobs of recovering all on their own when in warm climates. Make sure you don't see evidence of spider mites (webs). If you post a closeup of the problem area we'll be better able to assist.

Where I live, homeowners who have their adeniums planted inground plant in a high mound of very quick-draining soil so any water runs off into the surrounding lawn.

How large is your tree? If still relatively small (2 ft), you may want to reconsider how it's planted to accommodate future high rainfalls. If, and I'm aware that's a big IF, you decide to dig it up, be careful not to cut into its thick roots ... they are probably a beauty. If you post a picture one of the experts here can tell you how much you can raise the caudex to expose the roots and provide next steps.

Latin, adenium leaves often fall off after blooming season.

Most of my plants did that this year.

Marie, yes, the leaves drop when they begin entering dormancy. I believe it's still too warm in Walt's area (SW Florida) for that.

Adeniums sometimes drop leaves after blooming, whether or not it is going dormant. This is normal.
