If you have a queen bed, I would recommend getting the queen duvet. If you are worried about the box spring and frame showing, that's why dust ruffles were invented. And I know what you're thinking, "My mom uses dust ruffles!" True, but they have come a long way since they were frilly and floral and ugly. Most are basic, straight with a simple pleat in the middle. Not frilly at all.

If you are absolutely convinced that the queen won't be big enough, just stick with the king, not the super king. You don't want your duvet pinning you to the bed in the middle of the night with all that weight pulling the sides of the covers down!

I had the same worries with my queen, as I love to layer blankets and quilts. I can have a light blanket, and a light comforter under a quilt. I just fold back what the guest doesn't want on the bed. Since I have a larger wood side board that goes around me bed (6-inches), I can tuck the blankets in, and it gives it a nice finished look. Even at the end. I love the big, puffy, comfy look that layers give you. Also, we have a thicker mattress, and that takes up inches on the side too. There is an art to making a great and inviting bed. I have found my adult daughter sleeping in our bed one afternoon, when we were suppose to be weeding the garden! And she she has her own house and bed!!

Do it! I use a King duvet, flat sheet and pillows on our Queen and I love it. The duvet hangs over the edge about 15inches as you say, and the pillows take up the entire width of the bed perfectly.

ugh, my queen duvet is def too small for my queen mattress, I'd go as large as possible!

Yeah do it. There is alot of variance on size from different manufacturers but they don't ever seem to big enough and sizing up works well

I was wondering the same thing. I have a wood side board on my bed so even if I liked them, a bed skirt wouldn't work. My current queen duvet just isn't big enough to fully cover the bed. I'm thinking the king duvet idea is a good one.

If you have wood along the bottom of your bed (so that you can't use a bed skirt), then I would size up a little if necessary to make sure the duvet goes does low enough on the sides to look appropriate, but I wouldn't go overboard and get something that is obviously way too big and hangs too close to the floor.

I also put a king size duvet on my queen bed. Don't worry about the "super-king" term. The measurements of that "super-king" are actually smaller than my regular king duvet. My regular king is 104" x 90" and that is one of the smaller king duvets I found. For sure, there are no standard measurements when it comes to king duvets.

I always buy king for my queen mainly because queen often isn't large enough to keep you coveted adequately with two people fighting over the covers. It is a standard King. I'll post a pick of mine. I don't have a dust ruffle but you could use one if desired.
