I think they are too large for your bed and don't really add anything + what Lily'smom said about covering your headboard. The bedding is very pretty!

Thank you for the comments on the new bedding:). I am leaning to returning the europillows, but will look at them again tomorrow before making the final decision. Does anyone use them for comfort while sitting in bed? That's the only thing that might sway me at this point...

Your new bedding is very pretty. With your squared off headboard, I think the euro shams make it look more square, so I'd say no, you don't need them. And I pretty much agree they are useless.

I don't think they do anything for the look of your bed either - very pretty bedding and I love your chair, looks oh so comfortable!

You have all been so helpful. Thanks for helping me decide what to do. The experiment is over and they will be returned. I think I will be quite happy without all that extra mass on the bed. As for the chair, Ghostly, it really is comfortable and I enjoy that it both rocks and swivels!

If you want to keep the euroshams, what about putting your sleeping pillows inside the ones that match the duvet cover (just while making the bed) then remove them for sleeping. That would eliminate one pillow per side and give the euros more room, maybe to lay a little flatter.

That's an interesting idea, Oly, it hadn't occurred to me. However, I think I will opt for simplicity. Having never had Europillows before, I was a little astonished at how big they are - 26x26 plus very thick. Of course I have seen them in store displays, but maybe those beds are bigger than my queen or the inserts were smaller and I just did not realize the scale.

I actually enjoy my euros for leaning up against to read/watch TV in bed, but we have a really uncomfortable wrought iron headboard... yours seems much more comfortable!

Personally I like your bed better with them, but it wouldn't look bad without, either!

I think the look is fine but that many pillows is a pain in the butt to remove every night and then put them back on the bed in the morning. Ask me how I know....

My bed pillows are currently stacked about 4 ft high by the wall on my side with the alarm clock sitting on them. My night stand has a lamp and my fan for noise to drown out my hubbys snoring so no room for the clock at night. Fan goes under the bed in the morning and sometimes I actually put the pillows on the bed:).

Oh Zorro, I can just see it all - great workarounds, and humour too! Vip, I understand how the euros would provide comfort when leaning up in bed, especially with a headboard like yours. Trade-offs, trade-offs! Mine went back to the store today. I am hoping that less will be more:) As the room progresses I know I will be making various adjustments to my thinking. Today, one more little step: I ordered new lampshades in an off-white, with some soft pleating. When I get closer on paint choices and other things, I will be back here for more great advice, thanks everyone.
