Woo hoo! I am happy for you. I wish you would have gotten more. We got 1.6" a couple of weeks ago, and then a little more, and I think it ended up at 1.8" over a few days, but you cannot really tell it now. The plants greened up, but now they're wilty and sad-looking again. I wish we could get some rain across the state in nice amounts that would help the plants a lot more. August is the hardest month.

I don't want to wish a huricane on anyone, especially Louisianna, but some of that tropical moisture could come up here. Tulsa got rain today. Verdigris got rain. I got sprinles, but not enough to count as a watering.

We have finally got some decent rains here. Over 3 inches in 10 days. It has been so good for the garden to get some real water

I took my son to a trombone lesson in Edmond this afternoon and it was lightly raining there. Nothing here. :(

The rain came within a mile of me. I watched it on radar. Pretty heavy 5 miles out, then it just petered out and never quite made it here. Rained in Tulsa.

Rained at my mom's house yesterday and today, but not mine. I had to water today so I could feed.

I can hear the thunder but we haven't had a drop of rain and we are super dry. Maybe tomorrow.

my mom said it rained at her house in North Denton but not at my sisters in Southeast Denton. Twice. My sister is not impressed.

OMG! Lunatic Tulsa drivers. Lunatic Bixby drivers. Next time I BUY pickles. Not making the drive to Carmichaels again. Nope, nope nope. To the Cadilac SUV that cut from the right lane to the far left lane between me and the giant truck carrying 3 Kabatas...SHELVES. (This is when you look at a driver in disbelief and hold your hand palm up as if to say what the heck, or watever term you're comfortable with.) Then there was a stalled van RIGHT before you turn to get on 169 in Bixby. Half an hour to go 3 miles. Finally on the highway, counting the exits to more comfortable territory, the rain I've been waiting weeks for, arrives, like a hurricane. White knuckle 30 mph on 169 from Pine to the other side of the construction. I feel like I've been beaten. Got 1/2 inch here. I'm pretty sure 169 got more.

Hazel, That sounds like our luck. Our OK Mesonet station has had a little over an inch of rain this week, and we've had none here. To make it worse, we cloud up, we get the thunder, we get the cooler air....and they get the rain. So, while we are staring at the sky and hearing the thunder, we know who's getting the rain....and it isn't us. The rain a couple of weeks ago didn't close up the cracks in the ground and that rainfall's moisture is long gone and the cracks in the ground are enlarging.

We have a decent chance of rain today, so maybe the rain finally will find us. Or, maybe not. It will rain eventually. It always does. I just wish it would rain sooner rather than later.

So far this morning, we've had almost half an inch of slow drizzly rain. My granddaughter is here to help me and we are going out to the greenhouse to straighten up the mess that accumulates when it is so hot we drop stuff and leave.

We received our allotted amount of 1/4". I guess if we get that every week it will help. Ha ha

It rained North, south ,east and west of us and we just can't buy a rain at this point. We are on hold with planting winter wheat and alfalfa. We can dust the wheat in but the alfalfa need water so it may have to wait till spring. I told my husband to plan for a very dry fall and winter, I think he is begining to believe me.

We finally got rain. Really, it drizzled on and off for hours, with only small periods of heavier rain that didn't last very long, but in the end it added up to a very respectable 0.82", though it took the entire day for that amount to fall. At least it finally rained here instead of raining all around us but missing us. Since it rained so very slowly, the moisture soaked into the ground very quickly and there was not much ponding or puddling at all, and not much runoff. In that sense, it was the most helpful type of rain. Of course, the big cracks in the clay soil didn't seem to get any smaller, so I guess maybe they'll be with us a few more months.

stockergal, A quarter-inch a week certainly is not enough, but it is better than nothing at all. With September here now, maybe you'll start getting larger amounts of rainfall.

Everyone here has had the ground plowed forever, since around late July or early August, waiting for enough rain to be likely so they can plant the winter wheat and rye. I'm thinking that most (but probably not all) parts of our county have had enough rain at some point over the last couple of weeks for the wheat to sprout, but haven't driven anywhere out west lately to see if green is sprouting in the fields yet.

I'm concerned that we may have a dry autumn and winter too and, if we do, that leaves us set up poorly for spring planting. Summer was drier in reality than it looks on paper because we would go weeks and weeks with no rainfall and then get several inches at once before going weeks and weeks with no rainfall again. I suppose that's pretty typical of our summer weather, but I don't like it when we go rain-free for so long and I never will.

September usually is fairly wet for most of the state, so at least it has started out with rain. Now, if only we all get a whole lot more before the month ends.
