I forgot to mention that the old white cabinets were refaced with a medium maple. Now, across the kitchen, there is an l-shaped wall where we want to add cabinets. My walls are a soft yellow--like butter, I have hung some beautiful blue, red, and yellow Italian pottery, and I changed the knobs and pulls on the refaced cabinets to these beautiful, antique-style black and copper floral ones. I'm thinking about antiqued/distressed off/white for the other cabinets, if we can find ones that we can install ourselves. I am attaching some photos.

You could always go with a grey, like Riddle suggested. I've seen some really cool kitchens with navy, sage, and burgundy cabinets. For me, the room has too much visual movement, with the marble, rug and chair patterns competing. I would layer a cream colored solid square rug under the coffee table, about half the size of the grey rug. This might calm things down, balance the light and dark colors better and eliminate the need for that pop of color. I would also pare down the coffee table accessories and eliminate the small green pillows. If you feel it still needs that pop of color, try a solid color afghan layered over the back of the sofa. You are absolutely right. There are many shades of white. I was going to match to my white cabinet as I don’t think I can find any stone matching to the mount blonc except itself. So going to start comparing with creaser-stone pure white. Hopefully it will work!
